What are crystals and stones?

Crystals and stones in this collection are natural minerals and geological specimens: amethyst geodes and clusters, raw labradorite, tumbled gemstone sets, break-your-own geodes, selenite and quartz, plus a few clearly labelled replicas such as resin fossil plaques. They come from mineral suppliers in Brazil, Uruguay, Morocco and Madagascar, and every natural piece is unique in shape and colour.

Who is this collection for?

💎

For a child who collects stones

From 6 upwards. A geode, a crystal tree or a gem dig kit turns a pocket full of pebbles into the beginning of a real collection.

🎁

For a birthday or a housewarming

Parents, friends and colleagues looking for a natural object that is both decor and science: an amethyst geode, a selenite lamp, a fossil plaque.

🔭

For crystal lovers and geology fans

Anyone who wants the real thing: amethyst, quartz and agate specimens, and replicas clearly labelled as such.

How to choose a crystal or stone

Decide between a specimen to display, a set to collect and handle, or an activity: cracking a geode open or digging stones out of plaster is a different gift from a polished cluster on a shelf.

Clean quartz and amethyst with a soft brush and lukewarm water. Keep selenite dry, it is a soft mineral that dissolves slowly. Replicas are described as such on their product pages.

The science in two lines

A geode starts as a gas bubble in cooling lava; mineral-rich water seeps in over thousands of years and crystals grow inward from the walls, which is why the outside is dull rock and the inside sparkles. Amethyst is quartz coloured purple by traces of iron and natural radiation.

Crystals and Stones: your questions, answered

Yes. Geodes, amethyst clusters, selenite and the polished stones in the dig kits are natural minerals. The dinosaur fossil plaques are resin replicas and are described as such on their pages.
A soft brush and lukewarm water for quartz and amethyst. Keep selenite dry: it is a soft mineral that dissolves slowly in water. Avoid harsh chemicals on any of them.
From mineral suppliers in Brazil, Uruguay, Morocco and Madagascar depending on the type. Sizes and origins are noted on each product page where known.
Some of our customers value them for that; we sell them as beautiful, genuine natural objects and for their geology. The lamps and clusters are decor, not medical products.
A small amethyst geode or a crystal growing kit. Both are affordable, both look impressive on a shelf, and both come with a little story to tell.

Free UK delivery over £45 and 30 days to return it. To grow crystals rather than buy them, the crystal growing kits; to dig them out, the gem dig kits.
