What is a levitating plant pot?

A levitating plant pot is a small planter that floats a few centimetres above a wooden or metal base and slowly rotates, held up by magnetic levitation. It suits air plants, moss balls and small succulents, which need little soil and less water. Some pots go further and become smart: sensors for light, humidity and temperature, and an app that tells you when the plant is thirsty.

Who is this collection for?

🌱

For a plant lover who has run out of shelf space

A floating plant pot puts a succulent or an air plant in mid-air, spinning slowly. It needs no soil and very little water.

🎁

For a housewarming, a birthday or a desk upgrade

The gift that makes people stop and check for wires. Works for a home office, a reception desk or a windowsill.

🪴

For anyone who forgets to water plants

The smart pot tells you when the plant is thirsty. The levitating ones suit air plants, which barely need watering at all.

How to choose a floating plant pot

Choose by base style (wood for a warm interior, black or white for a modern one) and by what you want to grow; then decide whether you want the smart features.

All levitating pots are mains powered with the adapter included. If the power goes off, the pot settles onto the base; lift it back into position when it returns.

The science in two lines

An electromagnet in the base holds a magnet in the pot in balance, with sensors correcting the field hundreds of times a second. The slow rotation comes from a tiny asymmetry in the field, so the pot turns a full circle every minute or so and every side of the plant sees the window.

Floating Plant Pot: your questions, answered

Magnetic levitation: a magnet in the pot is held in balance by the base. Set the pot in the centre, let go, and it floats and rotates. Mains powered.
Air plants, small succulents and moss balls are ideal: light, and not fussy about water. The pot holds a few grams of soil or a small plant on its own.
It works on its own with light and sound, and the app adds detailed readings for humidity, light and temperature. Bluetooth, iOS and Android.
The base is stable and the pot is light. Keep the magnetic base away from cards and mechanical watches; otherwise nothing to worry about.
The pot settles gently onto the base. Lift it back into position when the power returns and it floats again.

Free UK delivery over £45 and 30 days to return it. More levitation, with light instead of leaves, in our levitating lamps.
