What is a moon lamp?
A moon lamp is a spherical night light printed in 3D from NASA's lunar surface data, so its craters and seas match the real Moon. Light from an LED inside passes through the thinner and thicker parts of the print to reproduce the lunar pattern. Most are USB rechargeable, tap-controlled, and switch between warm white and yellow; some float above a base by magnetic levitation.

Who is this collection for?
🌕
For a bedside table, a child's or an adult's
A moon lamp is the night light that everybody understands at once: the Moon, on the table, glowing.
🎁
For a birthday, an anniversary or a new baby
Warm, personal and universal. Personalised moon lamps with a photo or a message are the gift that gets kept.
🔭
For space fans
The 3D printed surface follows real NASA lunar maps: the craters and seas are in the right place.
How to choose a moon lamp
Size, colour modes and the base are the three choices. A 12 cm lamp lives on a bedside table; a 20 cm one lights a shelf; a levitating one becomes the centrepiece of the room.
| Type | Best for | Size | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Classic tap moon lamp | Bedside night light, a first gift | 10 to 15 cm | £28 to £40 |
| Colour changing with remote | Kids' rooms, mood lighting | 15 to 20 cm | £35 to £50 |
| Half moon and wall moon lamps | Wall decor, small spaces | 20 to 30 cm | £40 to £60 |
| Levitating moon lamp | Statement piece, the gift that gets a reaction | 14 to 18 cm | £120 to £137 |
All moon lamps run on a USB rechargeable battery or a USB cable; the levitating models are mains powered. Each page states the exact modes and dimensions.
The science in two lines
The print is a topographic map: where the lunar surface is high, the shell is thicker and lets less light through, so highlands appear brighter and the dark seas darker, exactly as on the real Moon.
The levitating version balances a magnet in the sphere against an electromagnet in the base; the LED is powered wirelessly across the gap.

Moon Lamp: your questions, answered
Are moon lamps 3D printed?
Yes. The surface is printed from real lunar relief data, so the craters and seas are accurate. Light passes through the thin and thick parts of the print to make the pattern.
How is it powered?
A USB rechargeable battery inside, with a cable included. A charge lasts several hours; the lamp can also stay plugged in.
Can I change the colour?
Most models switch between warm white, cool white and yellow by tapping, and some offer sixteen colours by remote. Each page lists the modes.
What is a levitating moon lamp?
A moon that floats above a wooden base by magnetic levitation and lights up wirelessly. Mains powered, and the most asked-about object in the house.
What size should I choose?
10 to 12 cm for a bedside table, 15 to 20 cm for a shelf or a statement piece, 25 cm for a child's room where it becomes the main light.
