The Broken Sleigh: a science escape game for Christmas

45 minutes to midnight at the North Pole
On Christmas Eve, Santa’s sleigh breaks down in Professor Beaker’s lab: Scamp, a cheeky elf, has taken the engine apart and hidden the 5 parts. Spot the real snowflakes, play the singing glasses, watch paper stars open on water, reveal a code in the mist on a mirror and build a tower of liquids that sort themselves out: every experiment gives you a code. You have 45 minutes to get the sleigh off the ground before midnight.

Frequently asked questions
What do I need?
5 glasses, a small mirror, washing-up liquid, honey, oil, green food colouring, a balloon, a straw and some string. Nothing to order online.
Is it suitable for younger children?
The game is designed for 6 to 10 year olds. The guide includes an easier version for 6 and 7 year olds (60 minutes, first hints given straight away) and a harder one for older children.
Can more than 6 people play?
Yes, up to 8 on Christmas Eve: children play in pairs, one envelope each in turn, and everyone comes together for the final lift-off.
How do I receive the game?
Straight after payment: the download link is in your confirmation email and in your customer account. You can download the PDF up to 5 times within 30 days.
Do I need a colour printer?
It looks nicer in colour, but the game works in black and white too. Print the paper stars on ordinary printer paper.
Is it safe?
Yes: no flames, nothing sharp for children and nothing to eat. A grown-up blows up the balloon and handles the scissors.
