Bought this for my nephew’s birthday and he was straight into it. The painting bit took longer than I expected, but that just meant the eruption felt like more of an event. Would’ve liked a few more paint pots, mind.

My daughter (7) has been banging on about volcanoes since a school trip, so this was a no-brainer. She moulded the plaster herself, painted it bright orange and green (not very geological, but who cares), then we took it out to the garden for the big moment. The fizzing lava made her squeal and she made me do it three more times. Vinegar and bicarb were the only extras we needed from the cupboard. Now sitting proudly on her windowsill.
Priya Shah –
good fun and the kids kept busy for a whole Sunday afternoon. Instructions are clear enough. Do it on a tray, it gets messy!
Dave Wilson –
Third kit I’ve ordered from here and it’s another decent one. Arrived quickly, everything was in the box, and the twins had it done and erupting within the hour of the plaster setting. Eruption is a bit short-lived but they loved it. Will be back for the crystal growing one next.

Got this for my grandson Alfie. His little face when it bubbled over, lovely to see. Spot on.
Tom Harris –
Honestly I ended up more into it than my son. The reaction is just an acid and a base fizzing out carbon dioxide, and the washing-up liquid traps the gas so you get that proper foamy lava flow. Nice way to explain it to a curious six-year-old without losing him halfway. The kit paints up well too. Cracking little thing for the price.

Got this for my grandson and he was over the moon. He loved making the volcano and couldn’t wait to see it erupt. We had such a laugh watching his excitement. A cracking way to bring some science into his day.
Daniel Carter –
The kit’s brilliant fun. The process of moulding and painting was spot on, and the eruption captivated my inner child. The learning bit was good too – understanding the steps behind volcanic eruptions whilst having a fab time. Definitely worth getting for anyone who’s curious!
