Rebecca Hargreaves –
Bought this for my 8 year old on a rainy half-term and then we had to wait two days for the sun to show up, which was its own lesson in patience. Once it did, he stood in the garden watching the blades spin and shouted for his dad to come and see. He built most of it himself, with me just holding bits steady. He’s now asking why it slows down when a cloud drifts over, so I’d say it’s done its job.
Margaret Thornley –
Got this for my grandson Alfie. His little face when the blades started turning in the window, lovely to see. Simple to put together too.
Graham Pettigrew –
Nice idea and the wooden parts are decent, but the instruction sheet was printed so small that my daughter and I were squinting at the diagrams for ages. One of the steps wasn’t clear at all and we ended up guessing where the wiring went. It works fine now, just a bit more fiddly than it needed to be.

brilliant little kit. The small solar panel feeds a tiny motor, and the motor turns the blades, so even on a hazy day there’s a gentle spin. My nephew was fascinated that no batteries were involved and kept covering the panel with his hand to watch it stop. Spot on for curious minds.
Colin Fairbrother –
Does what it says. Took about forty minutes to build and the finished house looks cracking on the windowsill. Only reason it’s not five stars is that it needs proper bright sunshine to get going, so not much use on a grey November afternoon.
Hannah Whitlock –
Another good one from here, we’ve bought a few of their kits now and this sits nicely alongside them. Kids enjoyed the building part more than I expected. Bit pricey for the size, if I’m being picky, but the quality’s there and it arrived quickly.

Bought this for my grandson, he’s chuffed to bits with it. The look on his face when the blades started to spin under the sunlight was priceless. A great way to introduce the concept of solar energy. Perfect project for a weekend.

Intrigued by solar gadgets, I decided to give this a shot. putting it together was straightforward, and the way it operates with just sunlight is quite clever. Nice to see something so hands-on that explains renewable energy so well.
