Create your own adventure with the DIY bottle boat kit
The art of building a wooden toy boat, with science on top
Here, everything starts with the pleasure of building. You open the box and discover wooden pieces cut with almost surgical precision. Every notch matters, every screw has its role. Far from a simple glue-together model, this kit invites you to connect the motors yourself, fit the propellers and understand the mechanics of propulsion. An incredibly rewarding experience, a genuine lesson in applied engineering. Watching the circuits come to life is a small moment of personal triumph.
A simple toy boat to build, for hours of creative play
Once assembled, this improvised catamaran is only the beginning of the story. Organise races in a paddling pool, explore the shore of a pond or make it the star of a school science project. It is theperfect gift idea for a birthday, offering much more than an object: an experience shared between parents and children. And if you wonder whether it is too complex, rest assured. The assembly is designed as a discovery, not an ordeal. The connections are simple, the guide is clear. The only real difficulty? Agreeing to lend it.

Build, understand, imagine
These engineering and construction kits offer much more than play: they develop logic, precision and creativity. By assembling structures, machines or mechanisms, children discover the fundamentals of mechanics, physics and engineering principles. Every project is a chance to learn by building, with the pleasure of watching something they made with their own hands actually work. 👉 Back to engineering & construction kitsCustomers who viewed this engineering kit also looked at

Gareth Pritchard –
Built this with my son over a wet Sunday afternoon and it kept us both busy for a good two hours. The wooden parts slot together nicely and the twin propellers have a decent bit of pull once the bottle is in the water. Only reservation is that the remote could do with a slightly longer range, but it’s fine for the garden pond.
Priya Nair –
good kit, does what it says. Bought it for my niece’s birthday and she was off to the bath with it before the cake was cut. Glue needed a bit of patience to set but that’s down to me rushing.
Colin Draper –
Third kit I’ve ordered from here now, and this one sits nicely alongside the others. Straightforward build, motors are neat and the boat tracks fairly straight across the water. Would have liked a spare rubber band or two in the box, but I had some in the drawer. Still a cracking little project for the money.
Hannah Whitlock –
The boat itself is fun once it’s together, but the instruction sheet is printed in tiny type and a couple of the diagrams are so small that we had to guess which way round the propeller mounts went. Took us three attempts. Works well now, just wish the booklet had been clearer.
Declan Murphy –
My daughter is seven and she was completely hooked. She chose the bottle herself from the recycling, decorated the deck with her felt tips and then squealed when the propellers started whirring in the paddling pool. I rather enjoyed working out how the little motor turns the shaft and pushes the water back to drive the boat forward. Proper hands-on fun, and she’s already asking what we can build next.

Bought for my grandson Alfie. Big smile the moment it floated. Lovely little gift.
Jane Smith –
My grandson was chuffed to bits with this kit. As soon as he powered it up, he had the biggest smile. Perfect for curious minds and keeps him busy for hours. A brilliant blend of fun and learning.
Tom Bennett –
A rather clever little project. Really enjoyed piecing the boat together using recycled bottles. It’s quite rewarding to see it skimming across the water under your control. Good sciencey fun.
