Rachel Thornton –
Bought this for my 9 year old who’s been obsessed with magnets since a school trip. He held the bottle against the window with a magnet behind it and the black liquid shot up into spikes and he actually gasped. Then he spent a good twenty minutes making it crawl around the glass while explaining to his little sister why it does that (not sure he’s 100% right, but he was very convincing). Rather chuffed with it.
Gordon Mackie –
got this for my granddaughter’s birthday. Her little face lit up when the spikes appeared. Lovely thing.
Callum Reid –
Spot on. Never really understood ferrofluid until I got this, but it’s tiny magnetic particles suspended in oil, so the whole liquid gets pulled along the field lines and forms those spiky ridges. Watching it settle back down when you pull the magnet away is oddly relaxing. Sits on my desk now and gets fiddled with during every dull video call.

Third thing I’ve ordered from here and another good ‘un. Arrived well packed and my nephew was straight into it. Only reason it’s not five stars is I’d have liked a slightly stronger magnet included, but it’s still great fun for the money.

bought this for my grandson Alfie who’s seven and he hasn’t put it down since the postie dropped it off. He kept holding the little magnet underneath and shrieking “Nana, it’s alive!” at the black spikes. Cracking present, and I’m chuffed to bits I picked it.

Spot on. The liquid stays sealed in the bottle and when you bring a magnet close it pulls up into spikes and ripples, which is down to tiny magnetic particles suspended in the oil. Fab thing to have on my desk.
